NCAA D-1 Melanie Duron with NCAA D-1 Texas State defended her title in the shot put with another gold to earn the Sunbelt Women’s Indoor Shot Put Performer of the Year. Melanie is A four-time Sun Belt Conference shot put champion, having swept both indoor and outdoor titles during her junior season. She earned USTFCCCA Indoor Second Team All-America honors in 2025 (13th place) and Outdoor Honorable Mention All-America honors (18th place) in 2025. At the Texas State program, she owns the record and the Sun Belt Conference indoor record with a personal-best mark of 18.21m. Melanie won two back-to-back UIL Class 5A Texas shot put state championships while competing for Laredo Martin High School. She is the last Laredo high school athlete to win a State Track and Field Championship.
